Wow, It's 2010!
We continue to put our best efforts into our work and play and prayer. We are building our part of the City of God in our own class community while we watch the new building grow outside of our window! | | Fernando, Our Godbrother.
5J and 5I sponsor godchildren through Nuestros Pequenos Hermanos. Fernando is 5J's god brother. He was born on September 7, 1994 and lives at the NPH home in Nicaragua. Karen is 5I's god sister and lives in Mexico. Sponsorship is $30 a month per class. We are learning a little Spanish from some of our wonderful Spanish-speaking parents and writing notes to Fernando. During Lent we take on extra money-making projects and chores to raise money for special needs at the orphanages. Please keep our godbrother and 5I's godsister in your prayers. | | Check out 5J photos from past years.
Wonder what the year will bring? Look ahead by looking back in time. You can view former 5J-ers engaged in fifth grade traditional activities and the daily fifth grade life in the J classroom. Check it out! You might spot a sibling. | | | Email Mrs. Talevich | |

Mrs. Mary Talevich, 5J’s homeroom teacher has been teaching at SLS since 1990 spending nine years in second grade and then moving to fifth. Mrs. T. teaches Social Studies to all of the fifth graders, while Mr. Mike Fuerte (5I’s homeroom teacher) teaches Science to the crew.
Mrs. Talevich graduated from Gonzaga University with English and elementary ed degrees, completed her fifth year at Seattle University, and received her M.Ed in curriculum and instruction from City University. She loves her job teaching in a Catholic school. It is important to her that the classroom community can grow in God’s love, praying together, sharing faith, and helping others. She enjoys 5th grade’s curriculum, too. The overnight to Pioneer Farm and the service opportunities such as Safety Patrol and supporting NPH orphanages add wonderful dimensions to classroom life. She feels so fortunate to spend her days with lively, generous fifth graders who keep her young at heart.
Mrs. Talevich and her husband, Tim, live in North Bend at the bottom of Mount Si where they enjoy many outdoor activities. Oldest son, Pete graduated from Seattle U Law. Middle son, Daniel, is teaching special education on Oahu. And youngest son, Andrew, is a senior at WSU. All three sons are St. Louise graduates.
